Worried about Water?

Coal plants use a huge amount of water to run their turbines, cool their towers and slurry the spent coal waste.

Just One 500-Megawatt plant consumes about      2 Billion gallons of water - enough to otherwise supply 250,000 people.  Rocky Mountain Power has over 6,500 Megawatts of installed coal-fired capacity in our area - that's a lot of water for an Arid State to divert for energy.

Although Rocky Mountain Power's portfolio in our area shows some diversity in energy sources, the non-coal sources are tiny relative to the coal plants' collective capacity.

We need to push to get the legacy coal plants cleaned up and more efficient, and we need to push for a large expansion of other sources.

Looking for a jobs bonanza?  Let's strive to make Utah a center of excellence in high tech energy generation and management!  This could especially help our rural counties.
